Tottenham 1 Crystal Palace 0: Wanyama marks home debut with winner

Victor Wanyama s late goal ended Tottenham s five-match winless run with a 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace at White Hart Lane to extend their London rivals away-day woes.

Spurs had not tasted victory since the 4-0 win over Stoke City in April at the bet365 Stadium the same ground where Palace last won on their travels in the league in December 2015.

But Wanyama marked his home debut in fine style with a close-range header to seal the points for Mauricio Pochettino s men.

Vincent Janssen made his first start for Tottenham, and he missed a number of great chances as he sought his maiden goal in English football.

Alan Pardew s visitors had won at White Hart Lane in the FA Cup last season, but rarely troubled Michel Vorm, standing in for injured capt…

Badstuber targets Germany recall

Bayern Munich s Holger Badstuber is eyeing a return to the Germany set-up after making his long-awaited comeback from injury.

The 25-year-old centre-back sustained a cruciate knee ligament injury playing against Borussia Dortmund in December 2012, before suffering a relapse in May 2013.

Badstuber returned to action during Bayern s pre-season campaign, and played the full 90 minutes as Bayern began the defence of their Bundesliga title with a 2-1 win over Wolfsburg on Friday.

Of course it s a goal for me, he said.

I want to be noticed and then recalled to the national team based on my performance. That s a big goal of mine.

I am well advised to simply keep going about my work and then everything will come gradually.

El Ahmadi rejoins Feyenoord

Aston Villa midfielder Karim El Ahmadi has rejoined former club Feyenoord on a three-year contract.

The Morocco international, who had one year to run on his contract at Villa Park, departed Feyenoord for the Premier League in 2012.

But 29-year-old El Ahmadi says he always harboured an ambition to return to De Kuip.

I ve always said that I wanted to return to Feyenoord sometime, said El Ahmadi.

That time has come. In my first period at this club Feyenoord was growing and that growth has continued in recent years.

I m really looking forward to playing in a full De Kuip again and sharing my experience with the other Feyenoord players. I m also relishing teaming up again with [coach] Fred Rutten, who was very important for me at the start of my ca…

Potter did ´an amazing job´ at Chelsea – interim boss Bruno

Interim Chelsea head coach Bruno Saltar believes Graham Potter did an amazing job at the club despite his dismissal.

The Blues cut ties with Potter on Sunday following a defeat to Aston Villa that saw the club drop into the bottom half of the Premier League standings.

Potter s departure came fewer than seven months after his appointment at Stamford Bridge, where he succeeded Champions League winning coach Thomas Tuchel, and on the back of a vast spending spree in the January window.

Inability to get the best out of Chelsea s array of recruits, with a lack of goals a major issue, ultimately led to Potter s exit.

Despite all of that, Potter did an impressive job in west London in the eyes of Bruno.

I m here right now because Graham and the club tho…

Kounde declares he ´came to win titles´ after finally making Barcelona debut

Jules Kounde outlined his intention to win titles with Barcelona after finally making his long-awaited debut in the 4-0 victory over Real Valladolid on Saturday.

The defensive acquisition from Sevilla has had to be patient to make his bow, missing the opening two LaLiga matches against Rayo Vallecano and Real Sociedad as he was not registered.

Barcelona were unable to register further additions due to their delicate financial situation, with LaLiga requiring outgoing deals before he could officially join the ranks, but an agreement was reached ahead of the third game of the season.

Kounde immediately slotted into Xavi s defence for the 4-0 win, winning three of four duels, regaining possession on five occasions and misplacing just four of 58 attempted passes.…

Bitesize Prediction: Burnley vs Everton – 16/12/23

Market: Everton win

Odds: 6/5 @

In the midst of what has become a stunning Premier League romp, Everton will make the trip to Turf Moor on Saturday evening when they meet Burnley.

Starting with the hosts, suffering a late collapse away at Brighton last weekend as they eventually had to settle for a 1-1 stalemate, Vincent Komapny’s side have largely failed to find any real momentum since marking their Premier League return. At the heart of a relegation scrap and tipped as a leading bottom-three contender in 2024, the former Manchester City skipper has seen his squad claim just a single win from any of their previous 10 appearances a run that stems all the way back to October 3rd. Opening this weekend’s fixtures already sat five points adrift of top-flight saf…

Mourinho: Festive schedule against every rule of physiology, biology, biochemistry

Jose Mourinho has criticised the hectic festive fixture list in the Premier League, describing it as a crime that clubs will be playing again on December 28.

Spurs were involved in the early kick-off on Boxing Day, rallying from a half-time deficit at home to record a hard-fought 2-1 triumph over Brighton and Hove Albion.

However, the victory came at a cost, with Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko both picking up yellow cards that mean the duo will be suspended for Saturday s game at Norwich City.

Son Heung-min is also banned following his red card against Chelsea, leaving Mourinho with a lack of options  as well as little preparation time  for the trip to Carrow Road.

However, before his focus switched to the next game, the Portuguese took aim at the s…
