Clyne becomes Liverpool´s sixth close-season signing

Nathaniel Clyne has become Liverpool s sixth close-season signing after joining from Southampton for an undisclosed fee.

The England international full-back has penned a long-term contract at Anfield and joins the likes of Roberto Firmino, Danny Ings and James Milner in making the move to Merseyside.

After completing his switch, Clyne revealed that Liverpool s history was a big factor in his decision.

I m delighted and it s a dream move for me to come here and play for such a big club with all of its history. I can t wait to get started, the 24-year-old told the club s official website.,

As soon as Liverpool showed their interest in me, I was happy and just wanted the deal to go through.

The gaffer has shown a lot of interest in me and this is a place where I can improve as a player, I think. It s definitely a good opportunity to come here and try to fulfil my potential.

I ve played at Anfield before and know what the atmosphere is all about. It s a great atmosphere and will make me rise to the challenge.

I m really looking forward to it and hopefully it can push me on to putting on good performances.

Clyne, who was also linked with a move to Liverpool s Premier League rivals Manchester United, moved to St Mary s Stadium from Crystal Palace in July 2012 and has made 104 appearances during his three years at Southampton.

His form there earned him a call-up to the England fold and Clyne made his debut against Slovenia in November 2014, racking up four further caps since.

He will link up with former Southampton trio Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana at Anfield.
